This is really useful to serve meals at regular times so that children know when to expect food. Children do not respond well to good housekeeping.
Make sure your child does not eat too many snacks between meals or drinks, especially milk or sugary drinks that can really fill them. Get them in the habit of drinking water, or watered down fruit juice from an early age.
The day of the week when every child in the family gets to choose the meal for the whole family will eat, but you have to follow through, and sometimes even giving them a choice of 4 or 5 is better than the open range, or May you find yourself pancakes for dinner twice a week.
Children just a little tummies and fill easily. Keep small parts and offer seconds if necessary.
If you introduce new foods to your child, such as carrots, do not give them a whole bunch of carrots, they are likely to get their noses at them, and that's when the battle will continue. Instead, give them 3 or 4 slices of carrots, they are accustomed to the new taste and they will do so over time, and in small time you serve them carrots 6 or 7, and so on until you are familiar with the taste rather than opposing it eats. It takes seven attempts to get to know the taste.
Only introduce one new flavor at the same time, persist in small amounts until they become accustomed to it before introducing the next taste.
Always give your child a choice, let them feel they are in control of what you eat, but the word choice carefully, so that while you are making choices to achieve your goal and getting them to eat properly.
Do not ask "Would you like sauce with pasta?" because it is giving them the ability to say no, and healthy vegetables and meat in the sauce. Instead, ask "Do you want the sauce poured over pasta, or do you want it with pasta ?"
Do not ask "Would you like vegetables?" ask "What vegetables you want today, broccoli or cauliflower?" You never know, they May surprise you and say "how'.
As children get older you will find that the meals that most conversations take place, and teenagers may be the only way to talk about their day. However, it is to start when they are young so it's a natural part of their day.
It's great to enable children to feed as soon as possible, yet they will feel more in control, although some children prefer to feed per day and eat more that way. Give them enough time to eat, try to refrain from them in a hurry.
Do not be upset with your child if you refuse to eat what you prepare, sometimes it might be another way for them to get attention, so it is better to remove the plate and wait until they get hungry enough to look for something to eat. Never try to force feed your child. This can lead to an unhealthy attitude towards food.
